Feedback Arjen testing:

- What are things I want people to experience?
-> It's an informative/educational app, I want people to learn about the Queer digital landschape in the 00's and 10's and how the 00's landschape evolved to the 10's one, how they relate to each other, etc.

- Do they go in with a specific goal
-> no, it's about exploring the map and learing things, people don't have a specific goal going in to the app.

People would rather go on an hour call with you than to answer proper answers on a 5 minute survey.

Better to schedule a 10 minute videocall (or in person) + some general questions at the end to answer them. Most info you get from people if you interview them. & record the screen to observe how they navigate & also ask some questions inbetween.
A message for the girls, gays and theys...
Thank you for wanting to test my prototype website! After some consultation with the teacher, I figured out the best way to test the prototype is for me to be able to see you navigate through the website while asking you questions. There are two options to do this: through Zoom, or at the academy IRL. This will take no longer than 10 minutes. I’m aiming to have all the testing done by Wednesday the 26th, so if you could let me know asap when we could schedule the 10 minutes and whether you want it to be through Zoom or at the academy that would be much appreciated! I am flexible and available Sunday onwards. Thank you so much for doing this <3 Cheers!
Testing 1: Boris (20 min)

Intro page Gaymer World:
- The X on Intro page Gaymer World could be more visible.
- The info abt GLBT sticks the most, the other part is a bit unclear.

Bloggarea:
- Hover function unclear, the fact that you have to click on the icons is unclear.
- The text that shines through with the examples from the previous page looks like it belongs with the examples and looks like new text. Same on the Vlogvillage page.
- He clicks on the "Vlogvillage" button and mixes introduction text bec of that.

Vlogvillage:
- The two categories in Vlogvillage doesn't make too much sense.

- Introduction text on the examples.

Boris is in a queer community on Discord, before he used TeamsSpeak (before Discord this was a thing), he uses Youtube too.

Testing 2: Justinas (10 min)
- Make buttons light up when you hover over it to make more clear it's a button

Bloggarea:
- Tries to click on example, maybe make that a button that redirects to external site?
- Maybe texts are a bit on the long side, if you have to read all of it, takes the him quite long to go through the text.
- Make the "evolving" aspect more clear, maybe mention in intro text or add some kind of icon.

- Justinas thinks the same as Boris about the text next to the examples is distracting, and would also like to have more info about the examples.

Justinas uses Steam(chat, videocall, update feed with artwork etc., like Instagram) and Discord to talk to fellow (queer) gamers.

Testing 3: Joe (20 min)

Joe was a bit nervous because he was being recorded and the connection was lagging so that made it difficult. Maybe mention that it's going to be recorded beforehand next time.

- Typo in introduction page "landschape"
- It wasn't that clear from what time period the introduction text was, it got clear after the map image.
- Hover for image button in yellow is confusing because you think you have to hover there.
- Doesn't get the evolve buttons, maybe some introduction about that would be good.
- Navigates to Vlog Village, so skips into text.
- Back to Map button is difficult to find.

Joe used Skype before and later Discord, Twitch, Youtube. Met his friends on a Mariokart forum (ask when?).

Testing 4: Elsa (IRL) (30 min)

Elsa is a vey experienced and knowledegable gamer, she represents my user group the best. She was very helpful with pointing out details that were wrong that only experienced gamers would notice and I felt that she "behaved" the best like my user group. The interview with her was very helpful.

- The split screen gives an illusion of choice which is odd because I want people to first go to the 00's map.
- Maybe explain that it was called GLBT so people don't think that's a mistake.
- Doesn't read the text that much, kind of scans through it and after forgets most of it, think of a way to make the reading stimmulating?

Bloggarea
- Also confused bec of the hover function.
- Expects to be able to navigate on Wayback machine, confused that it was a screenshot.
- Points out that my examples are from the wrong time period (big oopsie)

- Clicks on evolve misses text as well.
- Points out that that the Pokemon evolves to a wrong Pokemon.

Vlogvillage
- Points out that I wrote down time period wrong
- Has difficulty finding "Back" buttons
- Thinks yellow color of hoover function is confusing.

- Says I used pokemons from Generation 1 (except for Cleffa), which is good for the nostalgia feeling.
- Says that the Pokemon font makes it more difficult for her to read the text.
- Would like the welcome page to have a bit more of a story/explain more.
- Suggests that I could use the Evolve button on Pokemon GO. Or a mini icon of where it evolves from or to.
- Says I could look at about placing a Pokemon that fits tha landschape of the map.

Elsa uses Discord and Reddit to connect with other queer gamers, also Facebook, Youtube, Twitch.
Testing 5: Anna (20 min)
- Introduction Gaymer, last part was easier to grasp.

Bloggarea
- Also thinks you have to click on the yellow hover text.

- Also clicks on the Evolve button and mises big chunk of info.
- Maybe says something about the difference of accesibility of both eras.

- Thinks that there's an unlock function.

- Didnt understand until the end what the function is of the website, maybe add to the introduction texts.

- Suggested to add more sources.

Anna doesn't use platforms to connect with other players, she prefers playing on her own. But did recommend this app for gamers where you can find ppl to play multiplayer with.

Welcome to my Testing Process!

If you don't have to look through everything, make sure to scan through the things that are colourcoded:

PINK= Important Design choices

YELLOW= Feedback
INTERACTION STATION IDEA SKETCH
Webarchive has really difficult navigation, maybe do something with that?
Changed idea into making something online, so an Adobe XD prototype would make more sense.
Decided to follow his advice and do 10 minute interviews instead of letting them fill in a 20 question survey
3 types of questions about content, navigation & stylistic, asked for every page
